Ross Racing Stables

"Find Yourself in The Winner Circle"

Who We Are???

Ross Racing Stables is owned and operated by Larry, Mavis, Curtis and Charlotte Ross & Family and Les and Cindy Kowalyk & Family. Our family ranch is located outside of Rose Valley, Saskatchewan(121km East of Humbolt), we have a variety of different things on the go, breeding and raising Simmental Cattle, Chuckwagon Racing  and now starting into Thoroughbred Racing. Horses have always been a huge part of our life and now have become more appart of our life.  We enjoy racing in the summer, foaling in the spring and can't wait for the foals to come home in the fall to start working with the colts. We are striving to make the perfect race horse that everyone wants, the horse you find in the winner circle that has tonnes of finish, a big hearted, well built and catches anyone's eye in the pen, paddock and stall.

On the farm there is always lots to do and we never seem to have a dull moment!  You can reach us by phone (306)322-4743 or (306)322-5809, by email at r[email protected] or come on out and see them for yourself..

Larry and Mavis started racing back when their kids were young, they had many race horses back in the day. They had a mare named Roxanne sub partnered with Vern Hanson, who won her way to winner circle quite a bit. Grandpa enjoyed racing with his friends Carl Flamen, Bruce Anderson and much more. Grandma enjoys watch, cheering and of course getting her picture taken with the horse but being at the other end where there is no horse. They both have an interest in music, Mavis playing the keyboard and Larry playing the banjo. Being kept busy with playing music with their grandchildren which all play fiddles. They perform for many events where they have met and get together with a lot of friends. Larry bought a stud and a few mares with plans to put him self back in the winner circle. starting with 3 and working his way up to 20. They then found out they were possibly going to be too small thinking they would become wagon horse. Some of our colts started their career with wagon driver Shane Hue. We also started racing that year running some our 2 yr olds, that we broke all summer. This spring we sent horses to the track, we started our career in September 2013 with the maiden race of Running Redbull, boy was it an exciting night for us.

Curtis and Charlotte are the parents to Courtney, Cashtin and Corson. They are always busy, doesn't matter what the season is. They calve out 150 purebred Simmental cattle with their family on their ranch, when they are not with the cows they are helping their kids out with the horses. Curtis currently works with Department of Highways out of Kelvington, Sk and Charlotte working at the Prosoils as a Secretary. Running with hockey in the winters, calving, shipping the cows out in the spring, bringing them home in the fall and also racing in the summer.

Cindy and Les live in Rose Valley, they are the parents of Kelsey and Cole. Cindy works for Cornerstone Credit Union and Les works for CP Rail. They are always out helping with the cows, watching the races and helping out around the farms. Cindy spent her younger years watching the racing from the stands cheering and still currently is. Les is always willing to help with stuff here and their. He is new to the racing, but it wont take him long to be a cheering section to.

Kelsey is current is a residence of Saskatoon, working at the City of Saskatoon. She enjoyed riding, and still does when she comes home on the weekend. She hasn't been introduced into our cheering or racing career one day. She's alway is their to help when we are in the city, but will still have a busy day and find time in her schedule to come out and watch.

Cole currently is working for CP Rail and also does Small Motor and Engine Repair when he has the chance. Cole loves his horses, going on a trail ride, racing and learning to drive also. Cole helps us out in the spring the odd time exercising, and also at the track. He has fun with the Courtney, Cashtin and Corson taking the horses out and racing or even chasing cows. Cole girlfriend Megan Johnson has a love of horses also, family get-togethers seem to be taking a stroll to see the horses because she enjoys them and misses them when away. Megan is currently teaching in Raymore,Sk.

Courtney, well she loves her horses, she started chariot racing is now working as a career in horse training. Courtney loves working with the colt, doing the paper work, finding names for everything and of course memorizing every horse. Courtney also coaches hockey and running into shinny to play with the boys is not a challenge for her. She knows her horses, and is starting to know the pedigrees as well. She enjoys taking photos of the horses, it never hurts to sit out there for minute to get an extra photo.

Cashtin is currently working for a farmer out of Fosston. He is big into hockey, and is a great defence man. Cashtin is a big help around the farm with daily chores, breaking colts and also exercising the horses. Cashtin has 2 favourite horses he calls Stormy  and Enos that he has called his since weanlings. The three of them have grown together, and he hopes to see himself in the winner circle this summer with them.

Well Corson, the baby of the family enjoys riding his pony in gymkhana, playing racing with the old chariot at home and spending time with his new friends he has made at the race track. Corson loves the sport of hockey, and has recently been invited down the Grand Forks, ND for a tournament. Corson enjoys betting with his friend Chuck from the track and cheering for our 3 yr old Orphan foal Stormy.
